MNRF battling forest fire near East Arrow Lake

The fire is approximately one hectare in size and listed as not under control.

THUNDER BAY - Fire crews with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, including water bombers, are battling a forest fire south of city. 

The fire is located approximately six kilometres east of East Arrow Lake and five kilometres south of Whitefish Lake. 

According to the MNRF website, the fire was discovered Tuesday afternoon just after 2:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is listed as lightning. 

Witnesses in the area said water bombers can be seen picking up water on East Arrow Lake. 

As of Tuesday evening, the fire is approximately one hectare in size and listed as not under control.
