MNRF conducts fly-in enforcement blitz

Conservation officers dropped in on remote outpost camps

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conservation officers laid eight charges and issued an additional 15 warnings while checking activity at remote outpost camps on lakes north of Geraldton.

Officers spent three days on aerial patrol looking for moose hunters at fly-in locations, where they interviewed 29 non-resident hunters and 20 Ontario residents.

Charges included:

  • hunting without a big-game licence
  • failing to wear hunter orange
  • having loaded firearms in vehicles
  • operating a boat without sufficient lifejackets and prescribed safety equipment

The patrols were conducted between Sept.18 and Sept. 20.
