MNRF investigates another case of abandoned moose

Five moose have been killed and left to rot in recent weeks

In what's become a worrisome pattern for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, another instance of moose being shot and left to spoil is under investigation in northwestern Ontario.

In the latest case, two animals were killed and abandoned in the same location.

The ministry says that on Sunday, October 29 conservation officers responded to information that two bull moose had been shot and abandoned near Fourbay Lake, southwest of Manitouwadge.

The officers found the carcasses in the bush, about 50 metres off Runnalls Lake Road and around 60 metres apart.

They believe the animals were shot at about the same time, then left to spoil.

The MNRF is again asking for the public's help as it tries to determine who's responsible.

In three other recent cases, moose were shot and abandoned in the Sioux Lookout and Red Lake areas after their tongues and noses were removed.
