THUNDER BAY -- Ontario will send another 125 firefighting personnel to British Columbia this week.

They will join over 430 Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry staff already helping BC deal with a rash of serious fires.

The MNRF says the first wave of 140  firefighters rotating back to Ontario will arrive home next week.

The province has also loaned BC firefighting equipment including 10,000 lengths of hose and over 200 pump kits.

The fire hazard in northern Ontario currently ranges from low to extreme, with the highest hazard being in areas farther north.

According to the MNRF, the biggest blaze has now burned across 13,000 hectares in an area about 30 kilometres northwest of Eabametoong.

Ministry crews continue to do "limited suppression" including sprinklers on some remote cabins.

Otherwise, the fire is being allowed to burn to natural boundaries such as rivers and streams.
