THUNDER BAY -- Police are investigating the city’s second homicide case of 2014 following reports of a Cumberland Street stabbing.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a 911 call at a 122 Cumberland Street South apartment complex, better known as Andras Court, on Wednesday at about 8 a.m.

"Unfortunately in the residence there was a severely injured male victim that was discovered. He was rushed to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and unfortunately he was pronounced dead," Thunder Bay Police executive officer Chris Adams said.

"There were two individuals that were at the residence at the time of our officers arriving. They've been taken into custody. The investigation is continuing and we fully expect charges to be laid."

The identity of those two residents are unknown at this time. Police said they expect to release names of anyone charged on Thursday.

The name of the victim is also being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police did not say if a weapon was recovered.

It's not the first time Andras Court, a facility operated by the Thunder Bay District Housing Corporation, has been in the news. In October 2011 a man was arrested and faced several assault charges after a stabbing spree injured four people.
