MP Don Rusnak visits Washington, D.C.

THUNDER BAY -- The Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Rainy River travels to the U.S. capital this week to meet with a member of Congress and several Indigenous organizations.

Don Rusnak says he will sit down with Representative Rick Nolan of Minnesota, whose district borders the Rainy River area. Their meeting will focus on cross-border trade, border security, agriculture and,forestry.

Rusnak will also meet with officials from the U.S. National Indian Health Board, the National American Indian Housing Council, the Center for Native American Youth and the National Congress of American Indians.

"Canadians and Americans know we are all better off when we work together to create more opportunities for people on both sides of the border, and I am looking forward to exploring new opportunities for collaboration and growth," the MP said in a prepared statement about his trip.

Rusnak is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services, Jane Philpott.
