A northwestern Ontario MPP is crossing her fingers that she won't be called back to the provincial legislature next week.
The province has threatened teachers and school boards with back-to-work legislation. NDP member Sarah Campbell says there are indications that provincial politicians will be recalled next week, but she hopes it doesn't come to that.
The minority Liberal-led provincial government asked for a wage freeze and have promised to call for a vote doing so, if a deal is not reached between teachers and their school boards by the end of the month.
Campbell said she feels the government is getting ahead of itself.
Campbell added that she saw first-hand as a student what it's like when the government gets confrontational with teachers. She was a student the last time teachers were legislated back to work in the 1990s.
