The city has picked the seven committee members to save the Municipal Golf Course.

The committee, made up of three residents and four members of council, was announced at Monday night’s meeting. The committee includes Brian Madge, Dennis Halabecki, Anthony Stokaluk, councillors Andrew Foulds, Mark Bentz, Linda Rydholm and Mayor Keith Hobbs.

The committee has about a year to find a way to keep the financially struggling golf course going.

In other business, council received a petition with 218 signatures from the Friends of the Lakehead Physiatrist Hospital Greenspace. The group wants to keep the area behind the LPH an area for recreational use.

Foulds said the area serves as a linkage between Toledo Street, Conmee Street and Lyon Boulevard. He said these areas and many other areas around the city serve as storm water management.
