THUNDER BAY – One of the suspects charged in connection with the killing of a 51-year-old man in his own home made an appearance in court Tuesday.
Jeffrey Luke Achneepineskum, who is charged with second-degree murder in the October 2014 death of Rene Sortolovo, made a brief appearance at the Thunder Bay Courthouse.
Achneepineskum is charged along with a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
At the time of the arrest police said robbery appeared to be a motive and the co-accused were in a relationship.
Sortolovo was found dead in his North Marks Street apartment on Oct. 19. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
Achneepineskum is scheduled to return to court on March 24.
