Museum unveils classic car for 2024 raffle

Tickets are available online or in person wherever the car is displayed throughout the city.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Museum has launched this year’s classic car raffle.

The 2024 Classic Car raffle has 15,500 tickets available for purchase this year with the prize being a 1969 Pontiac Firebird.

The museum hosts classic car raffles every year to raise money to assist with its ongoing operating, programming, and capital needs that the library faces while also attracting potential new museum visitors.

“A lot of people have memories and emotions related to classic cars and they just love them. And so, it draws in a different audience that is not always at the museum and it also gets us out in the community,” said Scott Bradley, executive director.

“When we're taking the car to places like Bannon's Gas Bar, Canadian Tire, we get to interact with a lot of people in the community and talk about the museum, talk about memberships, talk about our programming. It's another great venue to connect with our community and remind them that they have a great museum here and give them ways to support it.”

This year, the museum's raffle fundraising target is $87,000 and tickets for the car are $15 each, three for $40, eight for $100, or 28 for $300 - with 15,500 tickets available.

Tickets are available online or in person wherever the car is displayed throughout the city.

The draw will take place on Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. through a random number generation program electronically conducted at the Thunder Bay Museum.

Full rules and more photos of the car are available on the museum’s website.
