Mutant carrot?

Jerome Willie has seen a lot in his 78 years, but never anything like the carrot he pulled from his garden recently.

Willie was pulling vegetables from the garden at his Neebing Avenue home a few days ago to donate to charity.

That’s when he pulled up a carrot that surprised him. It looked as though 10 carrots had grown into each other to form some sort of mutant giant vegetable.

“I was almost afraid to touch it,” Willie said with a laugh.

He thinks the carrot might have grown that way because it spent time in his greenhouse over the winter before being moved into the yard in spring.

“Of course we’re in Westfort where everything grows good anyhow."

Willie added he’ll likely just throw the carrot away.

“I don’t think I’m going to eat it because I have a lot of other carrots out there that are fairly normal.”
