KENORA, Ont. - A Nishnawbe Aski Police Service officer charged with drug trafficking has been found guilty.
Brent Cadeau, a detective sergeant with NAPS, was arrested in December 2011 after a ten-month long investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Cadeau, then 32-years-old, was charged with four counts of trafficking a controlled substance. In March 2011, Cadeau was suspended from duty.
On May 31, Cadeau was found guilty on all four counts in Kenora court and a sentencing hearing is expected to take place later this summer.
According to a NAPS spokesperson, Cadeau remains suspended from duty without pay. Following the sentencing, and pending any appeals, the NAPS professional standards bureau will conduct an investigation.
