THUNDER BAY -- The national chief of the Congress of Aborigional Peoples was in Thunder Bay Tuesday asking local First Nations people what matters most to them.

Chief Dwight Dorey is on a nation-wide tour to learn more about the lives of indigenous people living off-reserve and in urban areas.

This is the third national grassroots engagement tour, aimed at learning more about the concerns of off-reserve First Nations and Metis people across Canada.

Dorey says while Aboriginal people across Canada are a diverse group, the concerns and issues facing First Nations people who don't live on reserves are similar.

A public meeting at the Marriott Town Suites wrapped up at about 7 pm.

Dorey will be head to Sault Ste Marie and eastern Quebec later this week.

The findings from these sessions will be presented at the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples' annual general meeting in the fall.
