Neebing dog bylaw defeated

A controversial bylaw amendment in Neebing has been defeated. The bylaw would have defined a dog kennel as an establishment used for breeding, raising, boarding or working of more than two dogs over the age of six in the municipality.

A controversial bylaw amendment in Neebing has been defeated.

The bylaw would have defined a dog kennel as an establishment used for breeding, raising, boarding or working of more than two dogs over the age of six in the municipality.

That didn’t sit well with dog owners. More than 60 people showed up to a meeting at the Neebing Municipal office last week to voice their opinion.

Mayor Ziggy Polkowski said council listened to the people’s concerns and defeated the amendment unanimously Wednesday evening.

“I think council took into consideration what people had to say,” he said.

Polkowski said he hasn’t heard from anyone for or against the amendment since the decision was made.
