SPRINGFIELD, Man. – A Neebing woman has died following a head-on collision near Winnipeg Saturday night.

RCMP from nearby Oakbank responded to reports of an accident on Highway 12 near Garven Road, about 40 kilometres east of Winnipeg, around 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

An initial investigation indicates the woman, 34, was travelling southbound on the highway when her SUV lost control, entering the northbound lane and colliding head-on with a pickup truck.

She was transported to local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 29-year-old male from Lockport, Manitoba, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

There were no additional passengers in either vehicle.

Investigators have also determined a third vehicle was at the scene, police say, and may have been involved in the collision. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone with information on the collision to contact Oakbank RCMP at 204-444-3847.
