THUNDER BAY — Over 57 per cent of the eligible population of the District of Thunder Bay has now received at least three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The information was published Tuesday by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
It shows that 57.4 per cent of everyone in the district who's 12 years old and over has received three shots.
Among the population eligible for four shots (restricted to 60 years old and over at this point), so far 22.2 per cent have taken the opportunity.
The data is current as of May 7, 2022.
The uptake for three doses tops out in the 80+ age group, at 88.1 per cent.
In the 70-79 group it's similar at 87.2 percent, but then the uptake falls steadily by age group.
Just over half of those who are 40 to 49 have received a third dose to date, as have 43 per cent of individuals 30 to 39, about 40 per cent of individuals between 18 and 29 years of age, and 15 per cent of youths from 12 to 17.
The age group with the lowest vaccination rate is chlldren between five and 11, of whom only 41 per cent have received two doses so far.
This group is not currently eligible for a third dose of vaccine.
