GULL BAY FIRST NATION, Ont. -- Plans for a new school on the Gull Bay First Nation should be set in motion by this Spring.
That's according to the community’s chief, Wilfred King.
The community's school was closed down two years ago. King says it was due to a lack of funds, which was caused by alleged mismanagement by former band council members.
The closure has forced students from the community to attend Armstrong Elementary School, which is nearly an hour away.
King says building a new school is a top priority.
