New Trowbridge Falls pedestrian bridge open to public

Crossing the Current River between Centennial Park and Trowbridge Falls Campground has been a little tricky in recent years.

The pedestrian bridge that stood there for 40 years was shut down because of safety concerns in 2010.  But now, a new and improved structure is in place.

The new bridge is open to the public. There were efforts to have the new structure included in budgets over the past two years, but the money wasn't there at the time.

The city was also successful in receiving a grant for the new crossing. The bridge has been moved down the river a bit from where the old one stood.

An early estimate put the cost just of the new bridge at $900,000. But the actual cost came in just less than $600,000.
