THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has confirmed a woman in her forties is the area's 26th confirmed case.

It is unknown whether the woman contracted the virus through travel, close contact, or community spread.

The health unit lists the patient's "episode date" as March 23. That date represents the time of symptom onset, or the date of specimen collection or laboratory testing if no symptoms were reported.

Two new cases were also announced Friday. Recent cases have included a hospital worker and an employee at the Real Canadian Superstore.
