Nine arrested on drug charges

Police seized $39,200 in drugs and cash following the arrest of nine individuals on Wednesday.

THUNDER BAY - Nine drug-related arrested were made on Wednesday afternoon after officers put a five-month investigation into action.

Police conducted a search warrant on a vehicle, and later an apartment located in the 200 block of Wilson Street.

According to a release, police seized $16,000 in cash from the vehicle, and arrested one male.

Officers then proceeded to the Wilson Street apartment where they arrested seven males and one female.

At the apartment, they seized cocaine valued at $16,000, marijuana valued at $2,000, and $5,200 in cash.

Of the nine people charged, six are from Ottawa, two from Toronto, and one from Thunder Bay.

The variety of drug-related charges include: possession for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime, and obstructing police.

All nine appeared in court Thursday morning and have been remanded into custody.
