NIPIGON, Ont. -- The Mayor of Nipigon is looking to move forward with the first phase of the waterfront master plan and start to really develop those tourism opportunities in 2015.
Mayor Richard Harvey says the year will also mark 100th anniversary of the world record brook trout.
“There’s going to be a big celebration this summer to celebrate that longest-standing fishing record on the books,” Harvey said during an interview with CKPR Radio. “It is certainly a claim to fame that Nipigon has.”
Looking back at 2014 Harvey says some highlights include finishing some work in the downtown area and moving forward with reducing Nipigon's carbon footprint with projects like LED street lighting.
