Nipigon OPP recover stolen vehicle

Two individuals are facing charges after police respond to a report of a vehicle that had driven off Highway 11/17.

NIPIGON, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police have recovered a stolen vehicle from British Columbia.

According to a release, officers were dispatched on Wednesday to a report of a vehicle that had driven off Highway 11/17 near Davis Road in Stirling Township.

Before police arrived, the occupants of the vehicle had left the scene on foot.

A police records check of the vehicle, a 2013 BMW X3, found it had been reported stolen in British Columbia.

With assistance from the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team and Northwest Region Canine Unit, two suspects were located and arrested a short distance from the scene.

A 26-year-old from Langley, B.C. was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failure to comply with probation order and failure to comply with release order.

Police also arrested and charged a 27-year-old with no fixed address with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with probation order.
