THUNDER BAY — Police will not lay charges in the case of a fatal collision on Highway 11/17 in Thunder Bay on Thursday morning.

The driver of a pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a transport truck at the intersection with Balsam Street shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed the fatality Thursday, but will not be releasing the identity of the victim.

An OPP spokesperson confirmed the force will not be laying charges related to the incident in response to a Dougall Media inquiry Friday.

They added that due to the circumstances, including the lack of charges, the OPP will not release further details of the collision.

There were no other injuries reported to police as a result of the collision.
