Firefigthers and officials with both the city and the LRCA say they have not received new reports of home flooding after the area was dumped with another 40 milimetres of rain overnight.
The City of Thunder Bay issued a news release to media Wednesday morning stating that the city appeared to be handling the recent rainfall well.
Specifically, the release states that the Atlantic Avenue Water Pollution Control Plant is processing incoming flows and remains staffed 24-hours a day.

City Weathering The Storm
June 20, 2012 – The City of Thunder Bay remains on alert and ready to respond to any reports of flooding in the community.
“The City and its emergency partners are in a state of readiness,” Mayor Keith Hobbs said on Wednesday.
Roads, bridges and trails are in good shape. The Mapleward Road Solid Waste & Recycling Facility received some erosion of the East Cell Capping Project due to the rain, said Darrell Matson, General Manager – Infrastructure & Operations.
“The damage will be evaluated when this storm system ends,” Matson said. “There is more rain in the forecast so we will remain vigilant by continuing to monitor the sewer system as well as other City infrastructure.”
The Atlantic Avenue Water Pollution Control Plant is processing incoming flows. “The Plant continues to be staffed 24 hours a day to monitor the situation,” Matson said.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a few automatic fire alarms triggered by lightning and did not receive any calls for assistance due to flooding.
The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is reporting no cases of flooding due to the 40 millimetres (on average) of rain received overnight. The Flood Watch remains in effect.
