THUNDER BAY -- A credit union on the north side of the city was robbed on Thursday by a man brandishing a weapon.

Thunder Bay Police said the lone suspect was a Caucasian male with a thin build wearing a multi-coloured beige winter coat, black pants, sunglasses and a yellow hardhat with a visor and earmuffs.

The suspect entered the bank around 4:30 p.m., confronted staff and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving the area on a bicycle.

Police say staff members were shaken up at the ordeal, but no one was injured. Neither the weapon nor the identity of the credit union was made public by police.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect’s identity is asked to contact police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
