THUNDER BAY — No one was injured in what fire officials are calling a “signficant structural fire” on Fairbrooke Crescent around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue’s first truck on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the home and called for a second alarm.

An initial investigation revealed flames exiting from utility vents and the exterior wall on one side of the house.

Flames were also visible through a basement window on the opposite side.

Crews eventually moved to an interior attack and worked to combat the blaze, which had spread from the basement to the main floor and then to the second floor through concealed spaces and interior walls.

The home sustained major smoke, fire and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
