Northwestern Health Unit reports five new COVID-19 cases

There are now 20 active cases in the NWHU service area.

KENORA, Ont. — The Northwestern Health Unit now has 20 active cases of COVID-19 cases in its catchment area.

The Kenora-based NWHU on Monday announced three new cases in the Sioux Lookout region and two in the Dryden-Red Lake region.

Two residents in the health unit's service area are currently receiving treatment in hospital for COVID-19.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has 93 active cases, including one individual in hospital. 

To the east, the Sault Ste. Marie-based Algoma Public Health Unit has 330 COVID-19 cases, with 15 people hospitalized.

Across Ontario, 788 new cases were reported Monday, including 439 patients who are not fully vaccinated.
