Northwestern Health Unit reports new COVID-19 cases in four areas

Four people are currently receiving treatment in hospital for COVID-19 within the Northwestern Health Unit's catchment area.

KENORA, Ont. — The Northwestern Health Unit reported four new COVID-19 cases in its service area on Monday.

One positive test result was returned in each of the Kenora, Dryden, Rainy River and Emo health hubs.

It brought to 71 the number of active cases in the NWHU's jurisdiction.

The health unit said it is following up with the infected individuals and their contacts.

Within the NWHU's catchment area, four people are currently receiving treatment for COVID-19 in hospital. 

Of the approximately 1,800 COVID-19 tests performed the week of April 12 to 18, the positivity rate was 3.25 per cent.

Across Ontario, the positivity rate reported on Monday was 10.9 per cent, the highest since April 2020, when testing capacity was much lower.
