Firefighters contained a late Saturday afternoon fire in a Northwood apartment complex to the kitchen of one unit.
A neighbour called Thunder Bay Fire Rescue to report smoke coming from the second-floor apartment of the complex on the corner of Redwood Ave. and Westminster St.
The apartment's residents were not home at the time of the blaze.
On-duty platoon chief, Dan Hyvarinen said it was unclear what caused the fire but that no other apartment units were damaged.
"It seems to be isolated to the kitchen but they're jecking for hot spots all around," Hyvarinen said.
"It was a little more than just a pot on the stove involved."
The investigation is ongoing.
