THUNDER BAY -- After almost a year the newly renovated NorWest Community Health Centre is open to the public.

It was a packed house with healthcare providers, members of the public and dignitaries in attendance for the ribbon cutting event Thursday evening.

The highlight of the night was the unveiling of the centre piece for the Shoe Makers garden.

It will sit on the grounds of the former Famous Shoe Repair, which was torn down in July.

According to NorWest Community Health Centre CEO Wendy Talbot the upgraded facility features a wide range of front line health services.

Talbot added the renovations took 11 years of planning, organizing, and construction and totaled $8.3-million.
