EAR FALLS, Ont - The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is asking for the public's help in identifying the party who killed a moose, removed parts from its head, then abandoned the rest of the carcass.

Conservation officers responded on Sept. 28 to a complaint about the remains of a bull moose being discovered on the South Bay Mine Road northeast of Ear Falls.

The officers found that the animal's nose, tongue and bell (a flap of skin that hangs from the throat) had been cut off, while the remainder of the moose had been left behind to spoil.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the MNRF TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Calls will also be accepted at the ministry's Red Lake district office.
