NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO WRITERS WORKSHOP

The Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop are holding our LitFest Weekend on May 13 and 14th for local writers and anyone else interested in writing.

Our guest writer is the New York Times Bestseller, Cathy Marie Buchanan. Her most recent novel, Daughter of Black Lake, was chosen as Best Fiction for Fall by Entertainment Weekly and Parade magazine. Her previous novel, The Painted Girls, was a #1 national bestseller in Canada and a New York Times bestseller. Her debut novel, The Day the Falls Stood Still, was a New York Times bestseller and a Canada Reads Top 40 Essential Canadian Novels of the Decade. Her work has been translated into nine languages. Buchanan holds a BSc (Honours Biochemistry) and an MBA from Western University.

The weekend starts with a free reading and Q&A on Friday, May 13 at 4 p.m. at the Definitely Superior Art Gallery. Later that night we will be holding our annual supper with keynote talk by our guest writer and we will also announce the winners of our International Writing Contest.

On Saturday morning, Cathy will be presenting a workshop - The Craft of Writing Historical Fiction - from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Prince Arthur Hotel.
