DRYDEN, Ont. - The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area continues to drop.
On Tuesday, the NWHU reported six new COVID-19 cases, with two in the Kenora region and Rainy River region, and one each in the Emo region and the Sioux Lookout region.
This brings the total number of active cases to 66, down from 75 on Monday. Of the active cases, 31 are in the Kenora region, 16 in the Fort Frances region, nine in the Sioux Lookout region, four in the Rainy River region, three in the Emo region, and one case each in the Dryden, Atikokan, and Red Lake regions.
There is currently one person admitted to hospital with COVID-19 and the total number of hospitalizations now sits at 65.
To date, there have been 960 positive cases of COVID-19 in the catchment area.
The NWHU is also reporting that 26,091 individuals have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine but public health officials are reminding the public to continue to practice public health guidelines, even if immunized and to assume that COVID-19 is in the community.
