DRYDEN, Ont. – The Northwestern Health Unit is warning anyone who shopped in Dryden between March 9 and 24 of potential exposure to COVID-19.

The health unit has identified that there was “a low level risk of COVID-19 exposure in many business locations throughout Dryden” in that time period, it announced in a notice issued Friday evening.

The health unit had also identified instances of high risk exposure, it said, but had already notified and given specific instructions to those individuals.

With further test results pending, the agency promised to alert the public if it discovered evidence of spread within a specific business where the public may have been at risk.

Anyone who shopped in Dryden since March 9 and has since developed even a single COVID-19 symptom is directed to self-isolate along with their entire household, the NWHU said Friday. This applies even if symptoms have since improved.

The agency encouraged all residents to complete the provincial COVID-19 self-assessment tool, and contact the Dryden assessment centre for an appointment at 223-3737 or assess@drhc.on.ca if testing is indicated.

“This is a good reminder to the public that we must remain vigilant with prevention measures,” the health unit stated. “Wearing a mask, staying two metres from others, and washing our hands often are proven methods to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
