THUNDER BAY — Two weeks after a COVID-19 outbreak was declared at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre, it has now been declared over.
But simultaneously with that announcement Monday afternoon, the district health unit announced an outbreak in a different section of the Highway 61 facility.
The initial outbreak was on the male side of the correctional centre.
TBDHU said "unfortunately, a new and separate COVID-19 outbreak is being declared on the female side of this facility."
The health unit said it is working with the Ministry of the Solicitor general to manage the situation.
A facility-wide outbreak that was declared at the Thunder Bay District Jail on Jan. 6 continues.
