THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police say a man sustained serious injuries from a suspected early morning Northwood assault.
Police on Friday morning continued to hold the scene outside of a public housing complex unit near the intersection of Limbrick Street and Redwood Avenue, with yellow police tape circling an area of sidewalk next to the building and adjacent to the parking lot.
According to a release issued by police, officers were called to the scene just before 3 a.m. on Friday, told there was an injured male on scene. The victim was located and sent to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for treatment and further evaluation of his injuries.
Police have not released any details about the nature of the injuries, but said the major crimes unit is involved.

The Thunder Bay Police Service continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding a serious assault that took place in a residential area on the city’s south side Friday morning.
Members of the TBPS’s Uniform Patrol Branch were originally dispatched to the area of Limbrick Street and Redwood Avenue just before 3 a.m. on Friday, April 30 following reports of an injured male.
When officers arrived they located an adult male who had sustained serious injuries. His injuries are believed to be the result of an assault.
The victim was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries.
Members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit are now involved in this investigation.
