Officials with the Ministry of Natural Resources are reporting a relatively quiet weekend for fire activity in the Northwest.
One new fire was confirmed for the Thunder Bay District, and three other fires were confirmed in other parts of the region.
The new active fire in the Thunder Bay area is said to be small, and was caused by lightning strikes. It is situation northwest of English River and is not classified as under control.
The forest fire hazard rating is still listed as high in most of the northwest, and there is concern of that increasing within this week.
