There was one new fire confirmed in the Red Lake District of the Northwest Region by the afternoon of September 2. • Red Lake District Fire 023 is in the community of Deer Lake, about 176 kilometres north of Red Lake.

• Red Lake District Fire 023 is in the community of Deer Lake, about 176 kilometres north of Red Lake. At the time of this report it was listed as not under control at 0.4 hectares in size and has air attack and two crews taking action on it.

The forest fire hazard high across the region with a moderate area in the central sectors and some extreme hazards in the far north of Sioux Lookout and Nipigon Districts.

Labour Day long weekend signals fall is arriving.
