One person dead, two charged following collision near Longlac

The single vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Quebec man has resulted in careless driving and drug charges.

GREENSTONE, Ont - A 23-year-old Quebec man was killed following a single vehicle collision on Highway 11 near Longlac, which has resulted in charges for two people.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the collision occurred on Aug. 18 just after 4 p.m. on Highway 11 approximately 40 kilometres east of Longlac.

An eastbound car lost control and rolled over into the ditch. Emergency crews responded, including the Longlac Fire Department and Longlac Ambulance.

Kelias Rouleau, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to the Geraldton District Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver and two other passengers were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Following an investigation, the OPP have charged a 22-year-old woman with careless driving.

Another passenger, a 30-year-old Quebec man, was also charged with possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine, trafficking Schedule II Substance - cannabis marijuana under three kilograms, possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine, and possession of a Schedule III substance.

He is expected to appear in court in Thunder Bay on Aug. 27 while the driver’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 10.
