THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public's help as they investigate an alleged break-in and theft on the Escape Lake Road, north of the city, earlier this month.
Police said a storage trailer was broken into at a site about 3.5 kilometres off Highway 527 on May 10, but the incident wasn't reported until May 12.
Numerous items were taken, including a starter for a Caterpillar 3412 diesel generator, an alternator for a John Deere excavator, and an alternator for a skidder.
These have a value of about $3,000.
OPP said a witness observed a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck with an unknown licence plate leaving the vicinity.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident, or about the vehicle, to contact the Thunder Bay detachment at 807-939-2133, or 1-888-310-1122.

A cash reward of up to $2,000 may be available.
