OPP News Release

(KENORA, ON) – Following a Detachment Strategic Review conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a decision has been made to close the OPP Detachment in Minaki, Ontario.  The detachment will close on June 23, 2015 and the lease is set to expire on June 30, 2015.

The OPP would like to reassure community members that the local area will continue to receive policing from the host OPP detachment in Kenora with no change in detachment boundaries or service.  With mobile work station technology, OPP cruisers are now mobile offices keeping officers on the road and engaged in proactive public safety.

The OPP is confident that service for the citizens of the Minaki area will not be adversely affected by this closure.

The public is reminded to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 911 in an emergency.
