OPP continues search for missing Pickle Lake woman, requests public assistance

(PICKLE LAKE, ON)  The Pickle Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to search for a missing woman from Pickle Lake. The OPP is seeking the assistance of the public in locating the missing woman.

Charnelle MASAKEYASH, 26 years of age, is a first nation female, described as 5’7”, 130 lbs, medium build, straight, shoulder length black hair (usually worn in a pony- tail) and has brown eyes.

She was reported missing on Sunday, November 8, 2015. An extensive search was conducted of the Pickle Lake area by Officers from Pickle Lake OPP, OPP North West Region Emergency Response Team. The search team also expanded to include Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and OPP Aviation services, members of the 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, as well as civilian volunteers.

The investigation revealed that Ms. MASAKEYASH was last seen on November 06, 2015 approximately one kilometre south of Pickle Lake at 3:00 p.m.

Ms. MASAKEYASH is known to frequent between Pickle Lake and Mishkeegogamang; she has spent some time in Thunder Bay and has lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba for short period of time.

The Sioux Lookout OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Provincial Liaison Team are continuing the investigation into Ms. MASAKEYASH’s whereabouts under the direction of Detective Inspector Andy RAFFAY of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
