OPP find stolen car with drunk driver

After reports of a stolen vehicle, OPP in Red Lake not only found the car they were looking for but a driver who appeared to have had too much to drink before getting behind the stolen wheel.

On August 28, 2016 at approximately 4 p.m., officers received a report of a stolen motor vehicle from the parking lot of the Red Lake IGA. 

The vehicle was located on Discovery Road and stopped by police. 

Upon exiting the vehicle officers determined the female driver was under the influence of alcohol. 

She was arrested for Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and returned to detachment for further tests. 

A 37-year-old woman from Keewaywin, Ont., was charged with:  

* Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code

* Impaired Operation and Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and (b) of Criminal Code.

The accused has been released by way of a promise to appear in Red Lake court on September 29, 2016.
