OPP investigate 'suspicious activity' at apartment complex

(KENORA, ON)  Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating two incidents of suspicious activity in apartment complexes. 

On two separate occurrences on February 5 and 8, 2016, a female gained access to the secure buildings then entered two individual apartments stating she was there to perform housekeeping/homecare duties.  In both instances, the residents had not buzzed the female in nor had they requested these types of services. 

The residents told the woman her services were not needed and she left, but not until after she had entered rooms within the apartments. 

One resident later noticed money missing from the apartment.

The female is described as Caucasian, mid-twenties, possibly wearing health care worker type clothing. 

The Kenora OPP would like to remind citizens who reside in condominiums and apartments of some safety tips:

• Be aware of suspicious or unknown people trying to get inside the building. If you do not want to approach them, contact your building manager, superintendent or security
• Never allow strangers to enter the building as you are leaving or entering
• Co-operate with all other tenants in keeping the main outer doors locked at all times
• DO NOT BUZZ anyone into the building that you were not expecting or do not know. Most criminals will randomly buzz people’s apartments to gain access inside
• Always keep your personal door locked at all times, even if the building you are living in is always locked
• Look out for your neighbours, if you see anything suspicious contact management and your local police
