THUNDER BAY — Ontario Provincial Police confirm they are investigating complaints about the actions of the drivers in a convoy of cube vans on Highway 17.

Video posted to Facebook on Sunday shows one of the vans passing a tractor-trailer near Upsala as transport trucks approached from the opposite direction.

The manoeuvre forced other drivers to swerve onto the shoulders of the two-lane highway while the van squeezed through the middle, narrowly avoiding a multi-vehicle collision.

A trucker who witnessed the incident said the westbound convoy drivers had exhibited a pattern of "very dangerous" actions ever since the vehicles left a Thunder Bay shopping mall parking lot.

She said she and two others contacted the OPP but never saw an OPP vehicle on the highway after they called.

An OPP spokesperson on Tuesday was unable to confirm whether or not the convoy was intercepted by police as the vehicles continued toward Kenora.

But Constable Diana Cole said an officer has been assigned to investigate the incident, adding "we are in touch with the complainant."

Cole said any information available from video recorded by witnesses' dash-cams or other devices will be useful as the investigation proceeds.

Some of the captured images of the cube vans show the name of a trucking company.

Tbnewswatch.com has been unable to reach a spokesperson for the company.
