DRYDEN -- Police are investigating after human remains were discovered in a vacant unit in Dryden

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, an individual contacted police to report they had found the remains on Monday, March 7 in a vacant unit in Hillcrest Trailer Park on Third Street.

Investigators believe there are no concerns for public safety.

Police are not able to confirm the identity of the deceased person at this time.

The investigation is continuing, under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

A post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the person's identity and the cause of death.
