OPP investigating fatal highway crash

OPP News Release 

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On May 9, 2015 at 11:32 am, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services and the Fort Frances Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of King’s Highway 11 and Holmes Avenue with in the Town of Fort Frances.    

Investigation determined an eastbound motor vehicle turned into the path of a westbound motor vehicle.

A passenger in the eastbound motor vehicle, Jane McLEOD, (95) of Fort Frances was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The roadway was closed for an extended period of time to facilitate the investigation. The driver of the eastbound motor vehicle has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Local detachment officers, OPP Technical Traffic Crash Investigators and Scene of Crime Officers are continuing their investigation.
