FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- On May 15, 2016 at 5:40 pm, officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Development Road in Chapple Township near Bolen Road.
The collision occurred when the driver of a motor vehicle entered the ditch striking a hydro pole.
The occupant of the motor vehicle, 25 year old Marcella JOURDAIN from Fort Frances, Ontario was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A post mortem examination was held on May 16, 2016 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora. OPP continue to work in conjunction with the Regional Coroner’s Office, OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and the OPP North West Region Highway Safety Division to investigate the collision.
The investigation is being conducted by the OPP North West Region Crime Unit under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Heida of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
