OPP investigating highway hit and run

MARATHON, Ont -- Police are investigating a hit and run that took place on Highway 17 near White River. Officials with the OPP say the incident took place just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday about 24 kilometres east of White River.

Officials with the OPP say the incident took place just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday about 24 kilometres east of White River.

Police say a 47-year-old woman who drives a plow truck was struck while parked in a snow plow turn around. A pickup truck being driven eastbound struck the driver who was outside of her vehicle doing a mechanical check.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene and continued eastbound toward the White River and Wawa area.

Paramedics responded and brought the woman to the local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

The pickup truck involved is described as a 1990 to 2000 style pickup, gold in colour. It may have damage to the passenger side.

The truck was last spotted driving eastbound on Highway 17.

Officers from the Marathon/Manitouwadge detachment of the (OPP) are investigating the incident. If anyone has information regarding this incident, contact the Marathon OPP 1-807-229-0220.
