WAPEKEKA, Ont. - The OPP are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a school in the First Nations community.
Officers responded to the Reverend Eleazar Winter Memorial School in Wapekeka, a First Nations community located about 450 kilometres northeast of Sioux Lookout, Wednesday night.
Officers and community members were not able to extinguish the blaze before the school completely burned down.
It is believed the cost to replace the school will be more than $5 million.
An investigation into the cause is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Wapekeka detachment of the OPP at (807) 537-9882.
